Looking for an awning for a 2008 27’. I would be interested in just the awning arms as well if you don’t have complete unit.

I believe the factory normally installed awnings made by Carefree on your 2008 Born Free. The awning arms used were rather unique in that the bottom of each arm was curved to follow the curvature of the lower part of the Born Free coach body. These special arms probably are no longer available from the Carefree factory and would have to be sourced in a RV salvage yard that had a wrecked Born Free.

You could call the Carefree factory at 303-469-3324 to find out if the awning arms for a Born Free coach are still available.

Bill, Thank you! I just spoke to a dealer for Dometic, and they seemed to have made them too, but dealer spoke to factory today and they said they stopped making them last year.

After further research, I believe the Born Free installed both Carefree and A & E Awnings by Dometic. I just checked my 2002 26' RSB coach and it has an A & E Awning.

Question. Are you looking only for awning arms because yours are broken? If so, which awning type do you have - Carefree or A & E by Dometic.

Thank you again for the info. That A&E part number in the post was one digit different from the what my dealer provided (838100D638B). However this p/n may be for just one arm while the other may be for the pair. Some documentation also shows the same arm, but in satin vs Polar white (#838100D017).

I’m looking for an entire awning, my BF never had one. My dealer however still has a tube with fabric awning in stock, that would work with above mentioned Dometic / A& E arms. They called it the Sunchaser awning. (maybe newer model name?)

If just the bottom of the arm is simply angled like the picture shows, I’m tempted to modify a straight one if that becomes my only option.
