Brochure & Price Sheet for Year 2000 Born Free Coaches

Post by whemme »

Click on the blue Download button on the right side of the attachment window below to view a 16-page pdf file copy of the color brochure for the 2000 model year Born Free motorcoaches.

I am not sure, but I suspect that this brochure probably covered several later model years before a new brochure was published.

Thanks, Bill! Interesting---mine is a 2000 but has the cabover window. The brochure shows no window. Hmm.

Do you happen to know what year they started making the straight [not curved inward] sides?

I guess I an not sure what you mean. If you are referring to the fact the the sides of the Born Free coach are not straight up and down, that is, the sides tilt inward towards the top, that has been the design of the motorcoach body for many years.

Starting with 2008 models, the coach body had a somewhat major redesign with a new type of lower compartment doors. Is that what your are referring to?

Also, my first coach was a 1999 Born Free 24' Rear Bath unit and it had the cab over window with the overhead bed option. I do believe that that window was no longer offered starting with year 2000 models as it was a source of water leak problems although I had my 1999 until 2005 and mine never leaked.

Look at a picture of, say, the 2000. Then look at the new one. The sidewalls are not curved under on the new models--they are straight. I see this as a great improvement as the curved lower sidewalls are subject to a lot of road grime.

Beginning with 2008 models the coach body was redesigned which resulted in the straight up and down sides near the bottom.

I think if you were to check the serial number plate on the rear of you 2000 coach, you may find that it was actually manufactured in year 1999 and that is the reason that you have the cab over window.

The side walls of the new coaches still have the same curves as the older ones. This is visible in one of the construction videos in the Born Free website.

Mel, I think if you look closely at a pre-2008 24rb and a new 24rb you will see that, on the new one, the door is flush with the sidewall at the bottom. It looks quite different to me.

RE cab over window: My 2005RBRE had a window which was classified as a marine window. Neither my 2005 or 2000 RBRE ever had a leeking problem. Due to the redesign in 2008 I was unable to have a window in the cab over.

Like Bill I took your question as referring to the total side of the coach and not just the lower section with the new design. As usual, assuming is not the best path to take.

Thanks for the 16-page brochure. It has the first/only floor plan of the (used) BF we bought earlier this year--the rear side bed w/sofa and chair/pivoting table. The floor plan even confused Kim @customer service when I was asking why the pantry didn't fully extend. This BF is a million-dollar experience...a dollar at a time!
