pic of a Born Free on Chevy Chassis

Post by stevek »

New to me. How rare is this? Not sure what year it is.
What advantages/ disavantages to the Ford?
Dumb question...Why did they build this?
Wonder how many are around?

By the window placement it isn’t a RSB (rear side bed).

Hi Dallas
For some reason I can't copy the advertisement and post it.
But the ad says its a Rear Bath and located in Los Angles and listed for sale Aug. 2017.
It does not state what year of BF it is.
It was list on a website call Advertigo.

Have you ever seen a Born Free like this?

I would say 2008 thru 2012 . I own 2012 25' rear bath (triumph) it appears to be a 25 or 24 . Their are people in the world who believe that they have to have a Chevy . After 2006, I believe, you could no longer get an E series diesel ,but you could get a Chevy Duramax . I was told that when one Chevy Duramax was special ordered for a customer that it cost about $10,000 more than a gas Ford .

Born Frees built on Chevy chassis are pretty common. Some of the BFTs and all of the B&Bs were built on Chevy chassis. It doesn't surprise me that there may be a few "standard" sized mohos on the Chevy chassis. My 32' RQ is on the Chevy Kodiak chassis.

No, not rare. Their commercial division also used the Chevy chassis.

Isn’t it sad that we have to talk about the factory and those who worked there in the past tense?

I know that one Born Free was built for a Chevrolet Dealer and he wanted it to be on a Chevy chassis.
He said he would never hear the end of it from his employees if he had a Ford.
