I saw a Ductless Mini Split A/C and heat pump on a MH
Last winter I saw a motorhome with one mounted on the back wall/ not roof. Should have taken a pic.
Just wonder if this something new for motorhomes/ trailers? What are pros and cons?
This one is on sale at HD/ $950.
It is 110 Volt.
12,000 BTU 1+ Ton Ductless Mini Split Air Conditioner and Heat Pump - 110V/60

Thanks..
The Guy say runs at 8 1/2 amps. So, do your think a couple of 100 watt solar panels theoretically should run it? Thanks again.
Plus I saw this

8.5 amps at 120 volts is 1020 watts. If connected to an inverter that would be an 85 amp draw on your batteries. You may be able to run your A/C for about an hour.

Thanks for correcting me. If you have time. What would an example of a set up... # of solar panels, inverter, size of battery bank to run the 8.5 amps?
Maybe for 8 hours a day?
Thanks.

That 85 amp draw would assume an inverter with 100% efficiency - not very likely. Should maybe assume an efficiency of 85% which would make the inverter draw to be more like 100 amps. That means you would need solar panels totaling at least 1200 watts output in only average sunlight conditions. This probably means that you should have solar panel capacity of 2000 watts to give 1200 watts in average sunlight conditions to run such an air conditioner and not deplete your house batteries.

Good advice from Bill. To add to this, 2000 watts of panels would measure about 140 sq ft. This would mean an area of about 8 ft by 17.5 ft and weigh about 300 lbs. You would also need more batteries.
I mounted three of my four panels on the side of my coach. They can be tilted in place or removed and set out in the sun using extension cables. I have a total of 400 watts. My battery is a single 170 amp hour Renogy LiFePO4

So the only worthwhile advantage is reduced noise inside?

There is a foretravel owner who purchased an older mid 90s foretravel and put two of them in. The outside units are in one bay below standing next to each other with a louvre cover. The inside is mounted in the rear and the front
