Humm ~~ I know this will probably be easy to diagnose in the morning light, but it is always nice to have a head start :>) Was in our 2002 RSB tonight with 4KW generator running for air and fridge ~~ decided popcorn would be nice ~~ got into the popcorn about 1.5 minutes and lost AC power ~~ generator still running and no breakers flipped but AC and Micro not working ~~ Logic tells me that there must be a fuse inline between generator and power distribution panel ~~ have never noticed one however ~~ I have to believe someone has the answer, from previous experience, and look forward to any advise ~~ thanks in advance.

I was told that you never run your air conditioner & your microwave at the same time when running off of your generator. So I have never done that. I'm sure someone else will be able to tell you why...probably too much ampage needed especially when starting the microwave oven. Sorry I can't be of more help....

On our 2002 24RB with the Onan MQ 4000 Generator, there is a circuit breaker on the Generator. It is on the right of the primer - starter panel. There is a small sign below the starter that points to it. It tends to go off more often then the ones in the coach for us if we try to do too much at once. Maybe that is what has happened on yours.

Charlotte, thank you for your response, and observation, I suspect whoever told you that, had your best interests at heart, and it is certainly the “safe sideâ€

Glad it worked for you. We have had it happen more than once because we tend to microwave the morning bacon, while making the toast and coffee and trying to stay cool with the air conditioner. And then of course someone needs to dry their hair and at some point the Generator just gives up and trips that breaker.

BornFree_n_Now,
What you did with three heavy loads on your 4000 watt Onan generator was to trip the 30 amp circuit breaker on the generator itself. Just reset it to get your generator power back again. My experience with two different BF motor homes is that the Onan will run both your A/C and your microwave oven if you have the A/C on and running first. If you first have the microwave running and then try to start the A/C, the required startup current will be too much and your Onan generator 30-amp circuit breaker will trip. Sometimes while making breakfast I forget that the Onan can only do so much. I will have the A/C running and the microwave running and then I will put toast in our toaster and the Onan circuit breaker will trip. Then I have to put my clothes on and go outside to access the Onan and reset the breaker.
