Tire story

We are in Austria. On Saturday we lost the tread on the right rear inside tire. The rest of the tire stayed intact. We were assisted by a young man who led us about a mile to a tire store where we parked for a day and a half waiting for them to open on Monday morning. They then directed us another kilometer down the road to an even bigger truck tire place.
We thought we had been driving on tires purchased in 2007. We had purchased Rover in October of 2007 and had driven her about 10,000 miles. We were told that the tires had been replaced, and, sure enough, the ones we could see had a date of 09-06.
But when the bad tire was removed it revealed a date of 08-00, very likely the original 10-year-old tire with 58,000 miles on it. A closer look revealed the inside tire on the left side was the same age, so we replaced them both with the only two 16â€
