This topic is about garbage

Post by Tahoe »

I gotta ask. We just bought our 2002 24RB and love everything about it, and for the 2 of us, and a 60 lb Boxador (Boxer/Lab) we have plenty of room and storage, but... Here's the but. Where do you put a garbage can? Our first outing we both looked at each other and wondered how such well made and laid out coach didn't have a place for a garbage can. That first trip we put it in the shower area along with the dogs bowls. We'll continue to that I guess, but someone must have a better idea.

No better idea from us. We put ours in the shower, too. Oh, and also in the shower are 2 laundry hampers, a small dog crate, any water jugs or a Brita pitcher, our 1500 watt electric heater and the reflectix we put up on the windows in hot or cold weather. Yeah, it means a lot of work to unload all that stuff when we want to use the shower, but we usually use the campground facilities unless it is too cold or the facilities too yucky.

We have several Command style hooks where we can hang plastic shopping bags from Walmart etc. which we use for trash. when one gets full, we tie it shut and store it in the shower till we can toss it (usually within a day). We also keep a small trash can with a foot pedal lid in the cab area. It has a hinged loop handle on each side and we slide one of those over the driver side seatbelt receiver which keeps it upright when driving.

Garbage can on floor behind rear dining seat. It just fits a plastic bag inside.

We have the side bed and only 1 chair up front with the sofa. We have a small trash can from Dollar General that's about 2' tall and it fits just fine behind the chair.

We have an equivalent to a Sunbeam 3 gal. Trashrac(r) garbage bag holder mounted on the door underneath the sink, where we generate most of our trash/garbage.

It can use either the special bag-on-a-roll or standard plastic carrier bags from the grocery store (if your store still uses them).

We bought a pair of black plastic hanging brackets designed to hold plastic trash bags. (I think we got them through Camping World.)
The brackets attach to the top edge of any counter by suction cups. Each bracket is spaced about 12" apart and one end of each bracket extends over the counter edge. We then loop (tie) one side of the plastic bag over each bracket. The bags hang down and are very convenient for depositing the trash in them.
When the bags fill up we throw them away. For us keeping a small (no matter what size) plastic trash can takes up too much needed space.
Also, as some may already know, we found the Target stores plastic bags are by far the toughest and strongest grocery bags. Never had one rip apart yet.
Unfortunately, our coach is in storage now, or I would attach a picture.
