Rotel RV

Everybody has probably seen the Japanese beehive hotels - where your room is a refrigerator sized hole in the wall. We encountered the German RV version in Alaska and in the Yukon. This one sleeps ~25. Image http://www.rotel.de/ or google 'Rotel' for more info.

We also met a young German lady who had a early 60s Mercedes van conversion she had freighted to North America to tour the continent. It looked like a ruggedized '61 VW bus with a diesel engine - very cool. I wish I'd gotten a picture of it. (Maybe one of our travelmates has a pic they can post.) Edited 8/31/2015: Thanks Caryl :!: Image

In Chicken, AK I saw this homemade Alaskan RV. (Actually it is used as a stage at the Chicken RV park, but it does make you double take!)

You gotta love Alaska! Our Alaska kids went back to Fairbanks last week after a visit. Weather is now topping out in the 40s with rain and that is the good news! They love it.

We saw this Rotel bus or one like it in a campground near Zion NP a few years ago. The bus has a slide-out kitchen/BQ with 24-30 bus type seats ahead of the sleeping area. They were having a great time.
