Any tips to clean mounding around coach door?

Post by BobnGail »

Help! Anyone out there able to recommend how to clean that vinyl molding that goes around the outside door? Scrub Free, Mr. Clean Magic Erasure Sponge & bleach not working for me. Did find rubbing compound helps but that would be long & tedious. Has anyone replaced theirs & if so, what did you use?

Try paint thinner. A little on a rag and rub.

Thank you, tevz32!!! Tried the paint thinner but it wasn't working as well had hoped so the husband said try lacquer thinner .... and it worked wonders. You are genius! Would have never thought a solvent would be the answer.

WD-40 and Barkeeper's Friend cleanser worked great for me.

This would be a good time to consider replacing the molding; and after you've pulled the old stuff out of the track check all the screws for tightness and a good water seal and replace and reseal any rusted screws.

I replaced the white molding on our 2002 26' RB with black molding purchased from Kim Olsen. No more worries.

I use soft scrub with bleach for just about everything fiberglass-cleaning related. Coming from the world of sailboats, I've used it on almost everything and the stuff is amazing. And yes, it works nicely on the moulding around the doors.

I laughed when I read this. I fought mildew on my white front porch railings and posts for years. When they need to be replaced, I went with black vinyl. No more worries.

I use a product called stain solver. It's amazing at removing mold and mildew. Safe to use too. Google it or search on amazon
