Picked up my Royal Splendor

Post by John S. »

Well, we got the last of the things covered and left Anceria RV in Boerne TX with out new to us 2015 Royal Splendor. No second AC and not 4x4 and no solar and ford not dodge but those are all minor. It is walnut and it is a beast. I rememember a thread on a post gas vs diesel and after having the e45 for ten years I can say there is a huge difference

I got it on the Ford550 with the diesel and diesel gen set too. It drives like my pickup and you barely now the Jeep is behind me. I will take a pi today with my phone. We found it in TX and are on the way back to VA after a late start yesterday. Spent the night in a wal mart

Congratulations, John! I was wondering what happened to your plans with the Born Free closure. We love our Ford 550 and you are right - it is a beast but drives and handles so much better than our 450 did. Just our humble opinion, no empirical evidence. Does it have a slide? Looking forward to the pics.

No slide in this one. I did not want one as I wanted simple and ordered it that way. I have to say if people drove these they would buy one in a heartbeat.

John,
I’ve been wondering if you got your new coach before the (hopefully temporary) factory closure. Congratulations on finding a coach that closely fits your needs. Hope you enjoy the coach for many years! It sounds very nice. -- Chuck

Just hit the mountains on the return trip. Wow is all I can say. Pulling the jeep and it can still accelerate up the hill. The trucks lost 20mph and I held a steady 65. I pushed it up to 70 just to see if it would do it. The funny thing is I was getting upset having to stop for fuel so often. I used to carry 200 gallons. Then I realized that I had two tanks of different sizes. Now we have a 500 mile range sine I get 390 with the rear and 230 with the front tank.
