Folks recommended Meguiar's Premium Marine Wax to us and I've started using it. The directions say "... avoid applying to rubber and other soft, porous surfaces." There's a lot of rubberized caulk on the roof. Has anyone had any bad experiences using Meguiar's on the roof caulk?

Just avoid the sealants. There's no reason to put wax on them.

Because the Mequiar's is petroleum based. Wonder what it will do to your decals? The rubber sealant is pretty tough stuff, don't imagine it would do any harm to it.

I was told not to wax my roof of the Foretravel as it would become very slippery if I had to go up there. I painted it and had grit put in it as well. Helped with cooling and it also was none slip too.

admoffat... is your roof painted or gel coat?
The gel coat on my BF roof had deteriorated just enough that a wax did not work in keeping the shine.
But by using 303, kept the shine.
Regarding the roof being slippy, I always crawl on my hand and knees and never stand up.
Better to be safe than sorry..

I've used this wax on the roof for years - it seems to be good protection.

It DOES make a slippery roof - be careful.

Our roof is gel coat. Yes, it is slippery when waxed but our roof is completely flat (it doesn't have that angle in front that the E-series chassis units have). I'm very careful when washing and spend a lot of time on my knees. I just wish I'd remember the knee pads before I start washing and waxing.

But was kinda expensive. I have not tried this one.
Anybody heard of this wax?

I have not heard of it. I've tried multiple polishes and waxes over the the last 18 years on a fiberglasss body.

I've settled on the Mcguires polishes and wax for fiberglass (marine/RV) and the polish and carnuba for the metal cab. I like the looks - the coach is still white, limited fading or yellowing. It is always under cover when not used.

It's not easy or quick and I apply it at least twice a year. I've used a professional detail guy a few times ($250 for wash, polish, and wax) and it always looks better than when I do it. We both use use an orbital buffer at times. I don't let him use a rotary.

My husband has been working on our coach but he feels that it's only making it shine and not protecting it. Does anyone have any suggestions on what type of stuff they use on their coach? He has also had trouble buffing it out. Seems to be leaving streaks like crazy. He used Meguires marine polish. He hasn't tackle the roof yet..

As I posted in the thread above, I use Mclube Hullkote. Easy to apply and wipe off the residue. No buffing. Make sure the surface is clean so you don't scratch the finish, and it is slick.
