Generac Quietpact 40G Generator Removal?

Hey folks,

I think I have a dead starter on our Generac Quietpact 40G Gasoline RV Generator - located in a 2003 24RB.

Since I can see the bottom of the generator - I assume the generator is hanging? Has anyone ever remove one of these?

I can not access the starter motor with the generator in. I am not even sure I will be able to find a starter motor. Generac and several other generator parts stores have been unable to help me with the information I have (they say the serial number is no help).

Looking for different options.

Kevin,

A copy of the Service Manual for your Generac Generator is available from download from our forum.

First, click on the screen shot shown in the top attachment below and notice the entry titled Born Free Appliance and Service Manuals. If you go to our actual forum and find that button and click on it, you will then see the screen shot shown in the bottom attachment below and notice th entry titled Generac Generator Service Manual. If you go to our actual forum and find that button and click on it, it will download and actual copy of the service manual for your generator.

Page 29 of that manual is a troubleshooting flow chart for when your generator won't crank. The problem may be a defective starter motor or several other possibilities listed on that page.

Please also note the Generac Owner's Manual and Parts List also available for download.

Thanks Bill!

I noticed today I had a different model number on my own Manual and a past owner wrote a serial number on the manual which was different than the serial number on a stick in the generator.

As a result I was able to find the exact part number for the starter.

I also got underneath and noticed the generator is mounted by only 6 bolts - all of which is was able to loosen yesterday. So this weekend we will be dropping the generator to take a closer look. You just need to disconnect - remote start wiring harness, battery supply (+, -) in, power cord out, and the fuel line. I will likely then rig up the generator with a temp fuel source and battery lead to make sure the fix works. I never thought I would be pulling one of these out... but I think it is worth it. The starter was only about $50.

Thanks!

I also have a bad starter. Which replacement part did you get and where did you buy it? How is it holding up 3 years later?

Hi,

I picked up a Starter and Solenoid via Amazon:

Caltric Compatible with Starter Generac 0D9004A 0D9004B 0E0601 0E06010Srv
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00R9 ... UTF8&psc=1

Generac G086729 Contactor Starter Solenoid
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A2 ... UTF8&psc=1

I have not had any issues with the replacement Starter. I replaced the Soleniod because I had everything pulled apart and figured - why not.

I also posted about this work on the Born Free facebook group, if you want to see some images/videos:
