Onan 4KY generator choke

Has anyone ever removed the choke and its rod attachment to the carburetor of the 4KY onan generator?
I need to fix a sticking after shutdown of the choke (probably of the thermostatic element?) I am leery of the difficulty of reaching it to remove it and need help on how to access it. I am quite knowledgeable of mechanical fixes but this one scares me.
Much thanks for a response

Never heard of a Onan model 4KY generator. Sure you don’t mean a Onan 4KW generator?

Thanks Chuck Meadows.
A lot of info to look into.
I haven't used the generator much since purchase, but have listed it in the for sale area in this bulletin board and want to fix this starting issue.
We are trying to sell it. If you know someone who might be interested please spread the word.
I just turned 85 and can not no more safely use it.

George,
Good for you being active at 85 still messing with a carb choke! Look at pages 8-17 and 8-18 in the service manual (page 84 and 85 in the service manual PDF file). You shouldn't have to disassemble the choke. It probably needs an adjustment. If you can loosen the adjustment clamp screw (shown in Figure 8-15 Choke Assembly), then you can turn the adjustment plate that holds tension on the thermal spring. Turning the plate clockwise should relieve spring tension and put less pressure on the choke.
