I read, can't recall which forum, where someone calculated the cost to run the refrigerator on propane vs electric generated by the engine motor and inverted to 110v. The cost was lower using propane than the cost of the extra gasoline the motor consumed to produce the electricity needed to cool the...

The 4 way emergency flashers would provide illuminated warning to the drivers behind you if something like this ever happens again. It's not legal to drive with them on, but the better choice until you can get off the road. A coach interior light shining out a back window would also provide some pre...

Has anyone compared the Lazy Daze 26' Mid Bath model in the same years (1990 - 2000) to a Born Free? From my observation, it looks like the Lazy Daze will accomodate 6 adults without a problem. Please advise. The Lazy Daze is a boxier design. It will give you a bit more interior space. If you go on...

How many people do you want to sleep? How many are small kids? A class C motorhome gets pretty crowded as you add very many people. Two is nice, four is plenty, six is a test of your patience and sanity. A supplemental tent alongside the motorhome may be a worthwhile consideration. Campground bathho...

Need some new side Stripes
Had a deer leap into the side of my BF, and will need some new side stripes on the door and fender. Anyone know if they can be sourced from Born Free or somewhere else? The insurance man should be by in a few days. There is a tiny little bit of fiberglass damage behind the drivers door, broken mirro...

Re: Sagging liner from air conditioner to front vent
The discolored ceiling fabric stays to this day, as well as the sag. I had a similar discoloration issue with the overhead carpet in my boat when a leak developed at the portside rope clutches and gave access to dirt being carried inside to the headliner carpet, which is similar to the interior of ...

I've used Scangauge's for years in my cars and the BF. It is nice to have good information. In one of my cars I built it in to the dash, it almost looks factory installed. Unfortunate I did not come up with as elegant a solution for the Ford dashboard. If someone has a nice installation, not just si...

Thanks for info and pics. So, did it look something like this? This is the one that will fit my 2011 E350. http://www.hitchsource.com/ford-series-trailer-hitch-08-12-front-mounted-hitch-p-29394.html Did you install it yourself? If so, how hard/ easy was it? My BF is all plastic underneath from the ...

Thanks for all the interesting replies. I'm going with Bill Hemme's method, (thanks Bill) and putting it under the sofa, where the weight is fairly low and well forward of the rear axle. If I would not have had an easy opportunity to get 2 new wheels with my new tires, I'd still go without a spare. ...

I have carried a spare tire and rim under the front side of the storage compartment under the Flexsteel sofa for a total of 13 years now Bill, I read before that you kept your spare there, but I thought it was an unmounted tire. Since my old tire is already mounted on a wheel, (I bought two new whe...

Spare Tire on the Roof
I just got some new tires, I'm keeping two of the old ones mounted on the wheels, just in case I ever need a spare. I hate to give up room in the under sofa compartment, and recall posts of some BF owners storing the spare on the roof. My question is how do you get it up and down, without marking up...

Be very careful changing the rear tires. The emergency or parking brake acts on the driveshaft, not the rear wheels, and the motorhome will gladly roll off the jack once you get one rear wheel off the ground. If I had to change a rear tire, I would have someone keep the regular brake pedal pushed on...
