Article on Amana Colonies (location of 2019 National Rally)

Post by nrmcclain »

For many of you planning on attending the club’s National Rally & 20th Anniversary in May you can read a great article on the Amana Colonies by clicking on the link below.
By holding this event in Iowa, birth place of all Born Free Motorcoaches, it will be like holding 3 events all at once: National Rally, 20th Anniversary and a Homecoming.
So, if you have not yet registered for this event and are thinking about attending, take a look at the rally details found in the “2019 Rallies, Get-togethers and Caravans” Section on this forum (or in your issue of the latest club newsletter) and send you rally Registration Form and rally fee to Jerry Breu as noted in the instructions. We are all going to have a real great time.
We thank Joel and Sandy for bringing this article to our attention.

We stayed there a few years back and it is a great area. The campground is a field. They have a nice building for activities. We toured the woolen mill and got some great socks. Several wonderful restaurants and the food is super. They have had problems getting the young people to stay. The museum and historical film were very good. They have the original Amana Radar Range which you old timers will remember. Amana invented it. The appliance factory is still there and their products are stilled called Amana, but they have nothing to do with the Foundation anymore. It is a great place to do some exploring.
